Poker Update and Podcast
Hello!!! Let's talk POKER! I was recently invited back to the Thinking Poker Podcast with Andrew Brokos and Nate Meyvis. I LOVE these guys. They're so relatable, smart and kind. It was perfect because I've been grinding a ton and recently decided to shift my focus. I want to work as SMART as I do hard. I shared with the boys my tentative plans on the podcast, and really shed light on ways to be most effective.
This is what I decided do: At the beginning of every month, I'm going take a look at my schedule, and depending on what I have going on, I'll set a weekly hours goal.
Here are my goals for October-
Play 30 hours a week Learn (talk poker with friends, watch videos, read forums/books) 5 hours a week Focus on one topic to improve on per week Debrief at the end of each week - what worked, what didn't work
It's the halfway point, and honestly, the first two weeks went terribly. So bad in fact, I don't feel like writing this blog. I was playing tired, grouchy and super unfocused. I had no idea it would be so hard to grind that many hours. I'll catch back up with you guys at the end of the month.
I did read, watch and listen to poker stuff to learn but failed to focus on one topic per week. What I'm going to change is to take more breaks, make sure I'm taking care of my body, and be conscious of paying attention to the game. The topic for week three is going to be three-betting spots preflop.
